August marked the first day of 2nd grade for Erin - the exact same day we left for Girl Scout camp. So, she went to school in the morning for about 4 hours and then I checked her out early to head for three days of camp. What a spoiled girl, huh?

Random Thought of the Day
Saw this on my sister-in-law’s Facebook status today and thought, “that’s good enough to share!”
“Whatever you give a woman, she will make greater. If you give her groceries, she will give you a meal. If you give her a house, she will give you a home. If you give her sperm, she will give you a baby. If you give her a smile, she will give you her heart. She multiplies and enlarges what is given to her. So, if you give her any crap, be ready to receive a ton of shit.”
Couldn’t have said it better if I tried!

End of Summer with Daddy
This is their last trip before school started - a bike ride down the Jordan River Parkway. I tease Clint that he is "Disneyland Dad" because he's always the one who has more time to spend with Erin doing fun things. In truth, I am jealous that he can work 12-hour shifts and have a full time job that only takes up 3 days of the week. And I am SO GLAD Erin has so much time to spend with her Daddy.
Sassy hair is back!

"Mommy, I want a pony!"
It got dark and windy and time to head home and Erin was so sad. As we bid farewell to the horses, she said to me in this forlorn little voice, "Mommy, I want a pony!" I'm sure I'm not the first mom to ever hear those words but man they were so sad and funny to hear from her. I just laughed and agreed, "I want one, too!" Unfortunately, we'll both have to wait a while since owning horses in the city isn't a very easy task. In the meantime, she is looking forward to Girl's Scout camp even more because we'll be at the camp with horses. Now that she's had a taste of what that means, she's hooked! Ace, thanks for the great spur of the moment outing!

The July Holidays
Me and Ace - making root beer floats in folding chairs... what talent!
The men... and their adult beverages quietly enjoyed while the 12-year old performed the annual pyromania show
Erin, right before her smile was wiped off her face because she couldn't have a sleepover
The kids toting the fireworks to the road
The Finale!

The Making of a Big Sister
Erin can only be describe as ecstatic at no longer having to be an only child and is gearing up for big sisterhood. She is on constant baby-bump watch and tells everyone - and I do mean everyone! - the news. She fluctuates between wanting a baby brother (because she won't have to share her toys with him) and a baby sister (because that way they will be sisters together). I am glad it isn't up to her as the poor fetus' anatomy would be constantly changing to keep up with her.
I am 12 weeks pregnant, over the exhaustion and (knock on wood!) the queasiness and am rolling into the second trimester in full energy. I am still running - for the time being anyway - when I feel good and am gearing up for the next great adventure. Next milestone: getting to find out the sex in early September when the shopping and preparing can get into full swing! Before we know it the months will have flown by, it will be February, and we will be welcoming a new little one. Stay tuned... it is sure to be an adventure!
Cherry Hill Reunion 2009
Relaxing in the evenings for adult chit chat and all around antics. At least this year there were no 2am phone calls to others who were sleeping with taunts of ice cream!
What a couple of crazy camera hams!
